When your lean your bike against a tree, fencepost, picnic table, stone wall, or portajohn, always prop it against the rear tire. The bike will stay put and be much less likely to roll and tip over than if you use the bar, seat, or toptube as the contact point.

You should add this to the sticky, cryptid. It's a good bit of advice that seriously gets taken for granted.

Hmm......... tried that one, without a lot of success.

I put an elastic hair tie on my left grip, to slip over the brake lever when I park it. Works perfectly.

Why not just use your kickstand?

I always fine it easiest to prop it with the handlebar... meh.
