Southern California - GMR up to Crystal Lake with Hillbasher ( Wednesday video)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

60 miles with 6700 ft of climbing. Hillbasher and his crazy ideas managed to talk me up the mtn once again. According to HB's Garmin, about 6000 ft in the first 30 miles. I was actually doing prety good up to the last mile or two before the Crystal Lake turnout but then faded bigtime.
I don't know what that boy's been eating but Hillbasher was kicking butt today! Hea ndhis crazy ideas ran me to the ground today!:notamused:
I was going to use Carry on Wayward Son for Chris but the video was too short as the downhill footage was too bumpy!
BTW, watch it fullscreen or you can't see Hillbaher in the distance in a couple of scenes.

Thanks for dragging my butt up that ride Mr. Beanz. The way I feel right now, I think it was about 6000 feet of climbing too much.:twitchy:

Yeah! I did it!! I'm high-fiving myself because this is the first time I've been able to listen to that song without tearing up at least a little. Excellent choice, (mucho mejor que the song I jokingly referred to before.)
I'll probably need 7801 brifters on my bike before tackling that climb, because my 7800 levers clatter like the dickens on rough roads. (Either that or a Kansas CD and noice cancelling headphones.)
Thanks for another fine vid, Senor Frijolez.

does anyone know if the west fork trail is still open? have not been up there in a while, but since they have the road gated down below it should be a glorious ride..

Yep, open and ready to go. Should be nice going back to Cogswell.

Hauling bricks!:D...We're just steady climbers, none of that uphill timetrial stuff. I'm not even worthy of owning a set of climbing wheels!:D
