Hi from someone coming back to the road after about a decade of mountain bikes.
Bought a Moto Grand Record in a fit of nostalgia for my old Mirage (and a need for something with less drag/weight than a dirt bike...). I have figured out at least that the Grand Record is a nicer bike for a lot more money.
Looks like this one is newer and less sophisticated than the older Grand Records (Vitus tubing, Simplex[!] SX 610 rear changer, helicomatic, etc.). I am not sure if this particular example has been dumbed down, since a lot of the components look like things I had on my Mirage. Let's say I would never know, since I am not very hard core - just 20 mile trips on weekends:
Simplex shifters
Simplex front derailleur
Simplex SX610 rear deraulleur
Maillard Helicomatic rear hub
Maillard front hub
Rigda rims
Nervar cranks
Vitus 172 tubing
Vitus 172 forks
Concor S. Marco superleggera saddle
Here is a picture to show the generalities.
My question is this - is there any way to know without taking it apart what measurement system it uses (French or other)? I don't anticipate replacing anything, but I do know that the last Moto I had ended up with a lot of broken parts in the five years I had it before it got stolen (rear der. pulleys, rear wheel, front fork).
Thanks
Dante
