I've never directly known any cyclist whose been killed by a cager.? I've known of one whose been injured by motorist's stupidity , however...
. Club's have invited my bike group to join in their 'ride of silence,' and should have..
I thought post ride , this might be a fitting tribute and reminder to those who have been killed on the road by motorists... This idea from an email I received from a cycling club of which I sometimes' ride with... An appropriate tribute.. ?.

While I have never directly known a cyclist that was killed, I did hear about Curtis Leymeisterhttp://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/05/AR2009100502602.html who was only a couple years older than me. The state police blamed him for not being on the shoulder. I live in the (Montgomery County)Maryland suburbs of DC and, with the way people drive around here, riding on the shoulder is inviting a cyclist to become an after-thought to the motorized traffic.

I was going to do the most recent 'Ride of Silence' but, with it having been when it would still get dark earlier and, that I travel by my bike(apart from inclement weather), it was not advisable for me to be out that late biking.

In regard to the painting, since they are junker bikes you don't need professional equipment or paint to make it work.
A single inexpensive can of spray paint from the local hardware will do the job. Use a cheap plastic drop cloth sheet behind it to catch the overspray.
