This Sunday is the date of the Northeast Bicycle Swap Meet.
We have registered vendors coming from all 6 New England states as well as New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. There will be original Schwinns, balloon tire bicycles from the 1930s, 40s and 50s, track bikes, a turn-of-the-century board track racer, English roadsters
** and GOOD USED Mountain and Road bikes **.

There is no official bicycle show with judging and awards, but if you've got a cycle you're proud of, then bring it a long!

Vendor lawn space: $15

For those that have been to this swap before, how are the deals on vintage lightweights (and is there a decent selection of 60s-80s road rides?)

I'm hoping to go- can't wait actually. But I have a 3 week old baby at home so I might not be able to make it.

Regardless, I went to another swap in the winter in MA that was pretty good. There really wasn't anything I was looking for but I bought a couple of Flite Ti saddles (old ones) for $10 per. There was a huge array of different rides there as well. This swap will probably be alot better for several reasons.

1.- it's summer
2.- it's at the museum which will bring more people and their Schwinn's etc.
3.- I might be able to go and sell
4.- Bikes are always cool.

If I do make it I will be bringing a few boxes of misc. parts (cheap $) and a few bikes too. I should have an early 70's Motobecane Grand Record, an 80's Lotus Excelle, a few unknown age road bikes (at my brothers house so I haven't seen them in a while) for cheap $, a lugged frame Raleigh, a Univega "mtn. bike" (I use that term loosely as it's more of a comfort ride) which will also be cheap $$. I should also be bringing my friend who has a couple of Schwinn fastbacks- one is an original Ramshorn.

Hope I get to go and I hope to see some of you there...I'll have my black Xterra with small trailer.

Hmm... I'm in NYC, so it's about a 2hr drive for me. Not sure I'm committed enough to get up at 7am to get there right as it opens for the good picken's ;)

The swap was great. Lots of vendors and lots of visitors.
We brought a mix of Musclebike, Balloon, English and lightweight stuff.
The lightweights we brought were cycles that just keep getting in our way at the shop (Puchs, Shoguns, Raleigh 10-speeds, and I forget what else). They were the kind of cycles you get when you buy a load of bikes and have to take everything .vs. cherrypicking. We priced them from $15 to $35 and they all sold within the first hour of the swap meet...
I guess next time we'll bring a lot more.

I too had a great time although I wasn't able to sell anything (read: wife was less than happy I was going, let alone trying to spend the entire day there). However, I did well.


I bought a 1984 Mongooose Californian for cheap $ and also picked up 2 Ross Apollo's.

Oldroads, where were you guys sitting I wasnted to meet you...as I have many questions about my Apollo's, etc. Hoping you can answer them for me.

Also, there were two real nice road rides there...a Pinarello and a Gios! They were super cool, but too big and too much $ for me. The same guy also had a Paramount.
