Road Cycling - No brazeons and Campagnolo style dropouts...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was at my LBS today (I'm sort of a newbie) and i was asking for advice on puting a rear rack on my 1988 Centurion Ironman frame that has no brazeons. One of the first things he asked me is "Do you have Campagnolo style dropouts?" I didn't quite understand what he was asking, I asked him to clarify, he described a angled, notch cut out....I said "no".
Then when I got home and looked at mine I thought "Oh...is that what he was talking about?"
(see pic)
If what I have are Campagnolo style dropouts, are there other options for me besides clamp on brazeons for the lower supports? Or are there other concerns? He also asked me what kind of frame material my bike was (Tange #1).

If I remember correctly, your bike is equip'd with shimano 600 so I would assume your correct the no you dont have Campy dropouts. From the pic I dont see any brazeons for a rack whice makes sense because this is a triathalon bike, not a tourer so i think your going to need clampon's. The frame material is Cro-Mo steel

The LBS guy was a moron. What he was describing as 'campy dropouts' are nothing more than horizontal or semi horizontal dropouts with adjusters like you have. They can have threaded eyelets or not. They would typically be located just above the adjusting screw on a dropout like yours.

They are not campy but they are italian and its just I cant remember the firm who makes them I have them one one of my bikes. You can get a rck that ataches to the seat postand has litle drop down things for bags.

So he wasn't hinting toward a option of some sort of attachment that would go through the triangle cutout to add a brazeon, you think?

oldschool campy dropouts are a bit longer typically than those pictured, no?
