I'm just getting back into riding after a 10 year hiatus, and I'm now pulling my 2 year old around in a Chariot trailer.

This just happened on a ride in my area, "Horror on Wheels": http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1093212615283&call_pageid=968332188492&col=968705899037

I'm riding mostly on quiet residential streets, but I felt a bit of a chill down my spine when I read the article.

Everyone of us wull feel that chill reading that. Doesn't sound like there was any way to react even though they could see that a collision was about to take palce. But The probablities are to low to worry about it.

Still have to feel sorry for the poor folks that got hit, at least they are all alive.

Thanks for posting the follow-up article. I posted the first story last week and was anxious to hear if there would be any follow-up. Damn scary man. My wife always says that's she trusts my ability to ride, however does not trust some of the idiots I share the road with. And that's the truth.

stiffee_shane, I was away for a week or two on vacation and saw the followup in the star... I didn't realize that you'd already posted about it. **Edit** Now I see the original post. (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=61875)

FWIW, I noticed a front page article regarding cycling safety in York Region in the local newspaper (i.e., not the Toronto Star). If there is interest, I could scan and email the article.

I have to hope that their next reunion involves the assailant's house at 3AM, a large can of gasoline, and a box of matches.

I want to read a followup article on what punishment, if any, the assailant receives. I hope it includes permanent license revocation.

Such a response would do a lot to confirm the reputation of bicyclists as friendly, careful, responsible sports people and hobbyists.
