There have been a couple threads about the challenges of getting from PDX to Astoria to start either the Trans Am or the Pacific Coast Route.
I heard on the radio this morning that they (I believe Grayhound) will be running 2 trips a day from Portland to Astoria and/or Seaside. Hopefully, the buses will be bike friendly.
