I have cantilever brakes. I'd like to change my stem, but my front brake cable routes through it. What are my options for handling the brake cable? Can I only use stems with internal routing? Is there an adapter or bracket I can buy to stop the cable?
Thanks!

You need a front centerpull cable bracket for your headset. Not the best picture but you can see it just under the bars in front of the stem. While I'm not certain, I believe this will only work with a threaded headset. What is the diameter of your steering tube?
Scroll down in this link for various hardware solutions to this challenge. Best of luck.
