Northeast - New to MD

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi all, I am new (moved down here for work in Oct of last year) to Southern MD (in Indian Head) And wondering if any one could point me to some good places to go biking in the area.
Also about when will the temps in the AM (circa 6am) be high enough that I could get on the roads for a bike to work (live only about 8 miles from where I work)?
Thanks all in advance

Hi Mike. I'm not real familiar with that area, but I rode the Indian Head Century last year, and had a great time. Here's the site, and it includes the route information:

that whole lower loop section on the 100-mile route was just beautiful.

Contact the Oxon Hill Bicycle Club. http://ohbike.org/ There is the Indian head Rail Trail (Google Maps Bike option revels the location.)
As far as the AM riding ... get some cloths! It really is a simple matter of clothing. Specialty clothing should be down to long finger cloves, balaclava and a rain/jacket/wind breaker. (Though I ditched my balaclava last week.)
