Hi every one :) ,

Right now i'm looking to build a new bike and of course i want to start with the frame, but it's a little complex...

I was a XC guy so right now i have an entry level XC bike a 2005 trek 6500 that i bought like in 2007...but right now i got friends that are more into downhill and urban freeride i love to folow them but my 6500 is not going to last a long time going down stairs, rocks and all that kind of stuff...

So i want to build me a bike that can do both those kind of things and that is also capable of going uphill and still fun and fast to ride on flat trail/streets.

I want an USED dual suspension frame with shock for around 500$...something like 5 inch of travel with a decent weight.Something that would look maybe a little like the trek remedy line(just giving an example)...

But i dont really know what to buy as a good starting point...any sugestions?

Depends on what your buddies are doing for DH/your definition of DH and how badly you want to keep up (assuming they're on full DH rigs).

Sounds like just good fooling-around hill-bombing and boost-the-loading-docks, etc. urban, right? I personally would look for something like a few-years-old (mid-2000s?) Specialized Enduro. The Enduros of that vintage were pretty tough and would still do an acceptable job of carrying you back up the hill.

i don't realy know what they are realy capable of but right now there is not a lot of places to ride in the early spring :(...but i belive that anybody who is capable of doing trial with a Balfa NR is...hard to follow in a trail...for now it's just "good fooling around" but in a couple of month it might get a litle harder...but i don't want to go full DH...at least not for now...

What are you thinking of a devinci jalapeno?

Looks like it's a lighter-weight Bullit-clone. Expect to suffer a bit on the climbs with that high single-pivot design paired with its Vanilla R shock.

Maybe one of our other Canadians can help with a suitable Brodie/Rocky/Norco idea? My knowledge is kinda limited to the heavier-duty end of those brands.
