I ordered a 7.1 FX. Now, I am getting a 7.2 FX for the same price at the Trek store. I got a size 15 (I am around 5'4" and weigh 125 lbs) after trying a 17.5 (I barely cleared the crossbar). I will be mostly riding on bike trails and maybe on roads. Not on a mud path or anything.
Should I cancel my order on the 7.1 and get the 7.2 instead? I can't really understand the difference other than the price and the fact that the 7.2 has alpha black Al and puncture resistant tires. Any help on picking the right one is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Go with the 7.2......
Try to get a ride on both of them and see. I was fairly skeptical about there being much of a difference between the 7.2 and the 7.3. But I rode both a 7.2 and a 7.3 and there was a HUGE difference in feel. I would expect the same difference between the 7.1 and 7.2... But the only way to tell is to ride them...

Go for the upgraded version. Alpha black is stronger, puncture resistant tires are worth having unless you like changing flats, The shifter is upgraded as well I believe. Same money for an upgraded version, I would

I agree. I've ridden the 7.2 and 7.3 and noticed a big difference as well. If you get the FX 7.2, I doubt that you will regret it. It's a nice bike for the money.

I liked the ride. Hope I didn't mess up.

I don't see how you could (?). You got a higher level of bike for the same amount of money that you were going to spend anyway. Congratulations. :thumb:
(Of course, now we need pictures to document your purchase...)

Thanks guys. I had a flat the first day (a super sharp stone was the culprit), took the tire to the store and they gave me a new tube for free. I love the bike! Got some Livestrong gear and plan to put some serious miles on it. I hate to see it get dirty though...

Then, slap some Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid Fenders on it ---- and, both you, and it, will stay much cleaner...... Very little additional weight, go on easily, and can be had for 20-30 bucks.
