Judging from the fold, Brompton has nothing to worry about.

Actually, the Oyama folding bike is available in Europe and the UK. It is sold under the brand name Mission Space Genie. In the US it is sold as the Breezer i3. I don't think Brompton has anything to worry about on this one.

by the way it folds, it looks like an ibreezer folder instead of a brompton.

I believe Breezer no longer offers the i3. The Oyama looks great though. :)

Lol A brompton might be more expensive than the Oyama but it's worth every penny. There is no doubt even looking at the photos that the Brompton has both a better fold and build quality.

Ed, I think you're right. I just checked the Breezer website... and it's no longer there.

Yep! And notice that they don't sell 16 inch bikes anymore. All three models are 20 inch, and the frame reminds me of the Dahon Eco 3. If memory serves me right, I seen an i3 on ebay about a week or two ago, though I don't remember if it was new or used. I think the "Buy it now" price was $299.

Can you explain the quality difference?

Thanks,

I just noticed it the other day. In Spain, it is available at:
http://www.goodbikes.org
and sold as "Oyama BROMPTOM Replica"

Judging from the fold, Brompton has nothing to worry about.

Of course, Brompton's fold isn't protected under any intellectual property rights, but they claimed the reason their knickers were in a twist because the unfolded profile with it's curved top tube - which the Oyama shares - was copyrighted as an iconic look.

Of course since, as coolio points out, the unprotected and superior fold isn't cloned, none of us here in the real world think Brompton will waste a farthing going after this bike for copyright infringement.

Here is the direct link (http://www.goodbikes.org/nuevo/edita.php?id_articulo=418) to the Oyama's (http://www.goodbikes.org/nuevo/edita.php?id_articulo=418) description page. Now that I seen much more detailed photos, I wish they sold that bike here in the US!
