Bicycle Mechanics - Bar end shifter parts

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I don't need any yet, but I was wondering if anybody sells parts for bar end shifters.

What parts in particular? I've seen some bar end shifter bosses out there for mounting DT shifters to the bar ends, but not really anything else. I suppose it depends on which shifters you use and whether there are any spare parts online somewhere, maybe ebay. The benefit to bar end shifters is that they have few moving parts and they are pretty hard to break. Thats why they are so popular in cyclocross.

What he said. Shimano, Campy, Suntour? Indexed, not? There's a lot that hasn't been said.

I would love to find some hoods for Shimano 8spd barends. preferably Celeste but standard grey will do
They are Dura Ace shifters and I really don't need any parts yet. I was looking at them and the way lever sticks out, I thought if I drop the bike, that's going to be the first thing that breaks. I was thinking I would probably have to buy another set and I'll have all kinds of spares.:D
I mean...I have some 8spd Dura Ace barend parts, but they're currently on a bike of mine. if you can make my deal worthwhile (trades?), drop me a PM.

Get you local bike shop to contact the Shimano Warranty department. They have a few bar end shifters laying around. They sent me 2 new front shifters when I needed to replace 2 covers for a client. No charge. Or you can go to your local Ace Hardware store and buy some liquid rubber/plastic and dip the end of the bar end shifter in. The liquid rubber/plastic comes in several colours but not celeste.

That's a good idea, that would take some of the shock. Thanks.
