I'm new the cycling world (first bike in over 10 years) and have been looking heavily at a cross bike to be used mainly for commuting, exercise, and fun. I have the opportunity to get a complete 05 Poprad (White/Blue) for about $1250.00 out the door with everything included. Additionally, if I get this bike through this shop I also get free maintenance/service for five years. Is this a good deal? Any reason to look at another bike, i.e. Bianchi, Fuji, etc. Help.

I can't comment on price, but if you're not into bike DIY, having a good LBS is an invaluable resource.
If you like the bike and it fits you comfortably, then the bike plus 5 yrs of service for that price is a good deal. Just make sure you leave the shop with everything adjusted right so the fit is sopt on. You'll probably get a feel for the bike in the next weeks and can bring it in to get things tweaked just right. Use that 5 yr contract and let the bike shop get to know you, things go alot smoother when youre on a first name basis with shop guys.. I have an 04 poprad and love it, the 05 should be even nicer!

I took a Poprad and a mountain bike to Ireland and used them the year I was there. The Poprad is a great bike. I road the Poprad more than the MTB. Price sounds fair if is is sold by a good shop all the better. If it is really a great shop and they sold something else and it fit I would by another brand. Having a good shop is more important than the brand of the bike (as long as it fits).
Cheers

One LBS I called had a stock 2005 Poprad for $1099. The other LBS I went to quoted $1199. I bought it at the second place because I liked them better and were very clear as to the fitting service I would get. I bought a second set of tires at full price and they included clipless pedals at no charge.
Not sure what you mean by everything included - that can be a huge differnce depending on if you are adding a computer, lock, what kind of pedal, etc.
I personally would not stress about +/-$100 differences, especially comparing different geographical regions, etc.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm about 99% sure about getting the poprad, and since I don't know any better what should I be looking in terms of accessories, i.e. types of pedals, etc., to make it a better bike?
