What's the deal with 29" wheels. Why would you buy lets just say a 29" wheeled Gary Fisher rather than a similiarly set up 26 incher?

Many people will claim smoother rolling due to more momentum. Greater speed and long range comfort are some other attributes I've heard stated. They're however going to be slower to spin up and might pose standover problems for smaller riders such as myself.

I heard that they roll over bumps better. Kind of like how a 26inch mtb wheel rolls over a rock better than a 20inch BMX wheel.

If 26" is best for an average sized rider, then a bigger rider on a large frame is better off with 29". It would have the same proportions and handling as a med setup, but better rolling over bumps.
