Best touring tires. I tried the search with no luck so a link to some threads would be great or your advice would be great. looking for a 26'' for a LHT thanks.

There is no such thing as "best", no matter what the question is. Different products address different needs, and not all touring is the same. Depending on when, where and how you are going to tour, any of dozens of different tires might be well suited for your needs.

Even if there was a "best", you'd go crazy looking for it. Instead of focusing on "best", it's usually better to focus on "good enough for the purpose".

If money is no object, the Schwalbe Marathon XR has a long time reputation for puncture resistance and durability. 7000 miles is not unusual. No longer made as they were too good, but still available.

I've had ok luck with Continental's Touring Plus at half the price, but with less than half the durability of the XR. 3000 miles. Very puncture resistant.

The Vittoria Randonneur has been getting some good reviews.

Check out this link for a detailed accounting of tire experience by a guy whose been living on the road for several years. Gotta go down the page a bit to find it.

I didn't like the weight of the Schwalbe Marathon Plus, so I went with the Continental Travel Contact on my LHT. Had one puncture in the 2,600 miles since I put them on.

You might also consider Maxxis Overdrive, a Kevlar belted tire. My wife has 5000 miles on her current set and has yet to have a puncture.

what others said, there is no best. If you're riding on smooth clean roads with a light load there isn't much use in getting a heavy and tough 2.125" tire appropriate for 250lb rider on 80lbs of bike and gear that might go off roads occasionally. In the reverse direction a light, responsive and fast rolling 1.25" tire fine for 130lb rider with 25lb load wouldn't be that great for the big rider above.

So if you're seeking useful advice start with describing what 90% of your riding and load is.
