Howdy,

A couple of years ago we (myself, wife & son) rented some mountain bikes while on vacation in the Adirondacks in NY. We had fun and thought buying some bikes would be a great idea for fitness. We ultimately decided that hybrid bikes would be a better choice for the places we would most often ride and that's what we got. Unfortunately, I'm the only one who still rides regularly but my wife and son do still ride sometimes.

I was already 50+ when I got started so I'll not be breaking any records (except my own) but I'm happy with my progress. I am presently riding about 20 miles, 3 - 4 times a week, in 2009 I totaled about 2000 miles and will do more in 2010.

I have a 2008, Trek 7300 with a few extras, bar ends, fenders, etc.

I like to work on things myself and I'm hoping to benefit from the experience of other forum members with regard to bike maintenance, repair & upgrading.

Have you tried commuting?

If I worked closer to home I would but I my commute is 50 miles and I start at 6 AM so it's "not gonna happen".
