Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - 1990 Bill Holland

Unfortunately, this bike just doesn't fit me. It is a custom built Holland (San Diego) with full Superbe Pro (last generation) except for the shifters which are Sprint 9000. The Frame is in perfect condition and the original Joe Bell paint job that would be rated a 10/10. The Superbe group is near perfect and includes the awesome hidden spring brakes and is maybe a 9.5/10. They just don't come better then this IMHO.

I would like to know peoples opinion on much I could:
a) sell the bike with components
b) sell just the frame
c) Just the components

I really wish this fit me because it is the most stunning bike I have ever owned.

It is a 59 ST (C-C) x 56 TT (C-C)

WOW! That is absolutely stunning. In terms of the value I would not consider myself knowledgeable to appraise this bike, but I do know for sure that the Superbe Pro parts do fetch a king's ransom and they are hard to find in such pristine condition. Where on earth did you find this beauty and what kind of steel is it constructed from?

Bill Holland is researching it for me but he said he remembers the build and thinks it an SL and maybe SP blend. I'll know more when he get's back to me.

It was a local find. Man, I wish it was a few CM longer and one taller. I guess I could hold it because we all shrink with age???

I would part it out. Someone may dig the frame, someone else the gruppo. Bill Holland's are a bit under-appreciated, IMO, because they're not common, and many of the steel one's were apparently built kind of late in the "steel era." That one is a beauty, and someone should appreciate the quality, plus it is a good color (and many people know who Joe Bell is), it just doesn't have the name recognition. If you sell the frame, be sure to include a bit on Holland and his status as a master builder (now in titanium.) That said, Bill Holland frames don't come up for sale often enough to generate any kind of "market value," even one with a fairly wide range. Plus, it's a bit outside the ideal size range. At a wild guess, I would put the value in the $400-600 range for the frame. But price estimates really aren't my main skill.

With some good photos against a white background with lots of sunlight, you could probably get $1200 or so on the 'bay, especially once you get
all the information from Mr. Holland. You could try posting in the Serotta classified forum too, those guys really like the rare and expensive stuff.

If you sell the bike complete, I would replace the bar tape. It is really dirty, and detracts from an otherwise beautiful bike. Parted out, the bar tape does not matter.

I would also lower the seat, put it about the height of the bars, maybe slightly higher.

+1 White background would also help.

Out of my league pricing wise, I would just guess something north of $1000.
