On Google maps for bicycling I found a route from Topanga to Stunt Road that goes from Old Topanga, straight over the hill through Red Rock Road, then thru something called Calabasas Peak Motorway, then on to Stunt Road. Here's the Google maps link:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=34.091833,-118.601875&daddr=stunt+rd&geocode=%3BFSovCAId53Lt-CnPPjIf9J_CgDEknbc1UPHjNg&hl=en&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=14&dirflg=b&sll=34.09844,-118.62896&sspn=0.037527,0.065832&ie=UTF8&ll=34.098444,-118.628998&spn=0.075054,0.131664&z=13&lci=bike

I wonder if Google is refering to a mountain bike? I've cycled Stunt many times, and I've never seen a paved road that intersects Stunt at that location. Then again, I'd expect a road called "Motorway" to be paved. But I don't think it is.

Anyone know for sure? This would be a shortcut to Stunt, probably with some pretty good grades, like in the teens.

Thought so.
Something to consider when using Google maps for bicycles!
Thanks BJ

if you look at the satellite view you can usually see which roads are paved and which are not

I've done that several times.... on my mountain bike. For while it's like riding in a Southern Utah national park. For a better 'shortcut' on pavement, try taking Fernwood up to Stunt.

The google maps for bikes sucks balls. I tried it for a few routes and it was constantly routing over dirt roads, private roads, non-connecting roads, etc. Just pick car and avoid highways and you may miss a bikepath you could have taken, but you won't get put somewhere you can't ride.
