Tandem Cycling - Rode around a bit with this setup

As a test and in preparation for the Charlotte Motor Speedway TT Series we rode around a bit with the following setup.

Still have some clip on aerobars to put on the front, we will need much practice with because we are a bit squirrelly riding in the tucked position. We also have Giro Advantage 2 matching helmets and plan to use small Camelback's under our jerseys for hydration.

There are fewer than 36 spokes on that front wheel. I hope you have no intention of riding these outside of a sanctioned racing event.

10 mile TT, 7 laps around the race track. Since this is not our normal setup the wheels get limited use on the tandem, mostly on my single TT bike. The time limit appears to be 60 minutes, but 10 miles per hour is pretty much doable by most recreational riders.

The track is not as flat as most people think, there is a 26' elevation gain per lap.

Event specific riding, most likely will not use the front wheel, do not want to change pads just for 20 miles of riding every four weeks. Will likely use our normal front wheel. Windy conditions which can appear at turns 2 and 3 may also force us to use our normal rear wheel.

How can there be a 26' elevation gain per lap? Since you start and finish in the same place why wouldn't the net gain be zero?

Not net gain...

Then every out and back or loop ride would be 0 ft as well.

It's total feet ascended per lap.
