Great Lakes - Touring: Chicago, IL to Ludington, MI

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've pretty much got the route to Indiana Beach State Park (the La Tour De Shore route). I'm looking for informaiton on the route from there to Ludington.
Should we stay as close to the late as possible?
Is there a better route, a little more rural with less traffic, a little East of the lake shore?
Topography; flater along the lake?
What are some interesting things to see along the way?
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
Gary

I've been wondering along these lines myself, but from Kalamazoo to Ludington, are you taking the ferry across to Wisconsin?

You can use this cue sheet until at least Muskegon. I have created and ridden that route before and it works pretty well.

Rockdog: Yes, the plan is to take the ferry out of Ludington and ride home down through Wisconsin. We (6 of us) hope to do this in seven days.
Scummer: Thanks for the cue sheet. I'll check it out.

You may want to pick this up.

Make sure to get reservations for the SS Badger, as the ferry frequently sells out.
