Hi all~

Just bought this bike on craigslist today. i fear i paid too much for it after seeing posts that peugeots are generally not worth much.
here it is: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/casanova_58/pgt1.jpg

it is a 12speed, the frame says carbolite 103. what cha think? i like it anyway. its my first roadbike, clearly i dont know too much about bikes. i do intend to get around on it though..'

thanks :) i paid 2 bills . i also live in sf, where i think people can get more for road bikes. i was happy to pay that, although im reading now that is prolly the most one would pay for this brand. the transaction felt good to me though. i just want to learn more about the bike and bikes in general, starting with basics :)

Looks like a 1985 P18C, the mixte version of the P8 (I had a 1985 P8 in the same color last year). $200 is just about spot on value wise (mixtes are hot), and in an insane market like San Fran, I would not be surprised to see it go for $300.

The pearl white P8 is a good looking bike.

$200 is no where near the most someone would pay for a Peugeot. Peugeot made some really sweet high end bikes, that garner serious $$$. The P8 is not one of those high end models.

If anything, around here, Peugeots sell for a premium compared to similarly equipped bikes with similar components.

As far as learning more about bikes, google is your friend. There is a lot of information out there about Peugeots. And there are many postings per week about Peugeots on this list as well.

Be sure to visit the mechanics forum, and read the postings: "Read These First". They are a great source on basic and advanced bike mechanics.

Thats actualy a very nice mixte. In Tampa I could get $175 all day long for that bike. $200, considering it needs work, is a fair street price for San Franciso.

Whats a mixte version?

A ladies bike with two individual bars running from the handlebar area all the way to the back axle. Any other style of bar wouldnt technicaly be called a 'mixte'.
