Training & Nutrition - Juicing, glucosamine and chondroitin

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm juicing pretty regularly, and want to add glucosamine and and chondroitin pills to my regimen, but would rather avoid having to swallow these horsepills. I've researched my question on the web but couldn't find any info: can I grind up the pills and add them to my juice or would that destroy their value?

It would spoil the juice more than anything. I can't imagine it would taste that good. They would still be absorbed the same, though.

I think the grinding could destroy the taste of the juice if you let them dissolve.
If your having trouble swallowing, try downing them with solid food, such as the food your about to juice & then drink your juice.
Forget chondroiten. Glucosamine is what does the trick.
Go to Walmart and get the biggest jug of Glucosamine Sulfate caps.
They are standard size caps.

You could also try cutting the pills in half.

you can do that. I grind up pills for my daughter.
btw: a sports training in CA wrote to me once and told me that she uses those in powder form. keep searching, you might find it somewhere. if not, PM me and I'll see if I can dig up her email
