Had not seen these particular ones but have seen others in bright yellow with the "3 feet" message. I seriously doubt the drivers you have to worry about would even get it.

Many of the problem drivers around here would take it as a challenge to their frail egos and see how close they could get to hitting me with a side-mirror.

That thought crossed my mind too. I'm thinking you might just as well wear a jersey that had a target printed on the back.

Where I ride, most drivers give me way more than three feet. I do not intend to challenge them to narrow that margin.

I think in upstate NY we are pretty blessed with decent drivers and wide shoulders. This is not always the case, a few years back a rider who worked where I do was killed by a teenager drag racing on one of the popular cycling route, but that is rare.

Where I ride, most drivers give me way more than three feet. I do not intend to challenge them to narrow that margin.

Now if I rode downtown it might be a different story.

I was just thinking during my ride today that the percentage of drivers who give me plenty of room is very high, in the upper 90s I would guess. I don't think the percentage of cyclists who avoid unnecessarily slowing traffic is quite so high.

The last thing I want is for some driver to get fixated on me while trying to read that. That is assuming I'm sitting far enough upright for it to be read.

I believe that site also sells jersey with custom wording. "share the damn road" is just an example.

For the 20 something yahoos driving their either jalopy or Battleship Missouri pickups in my area, I sometimes think hi-vis just offers a nice target that says "Bikie Twit". Maybe I should get one that says "Redman Tobacco" or "Spike TV".

On no shoulder roads I generally pull into the lane 3 or 4 feet so they have to notice me. I'm also ready to swerve right if need be. I don't often ride without my mirror. A friend was run off a shoulderless road into a ditch filled with pasture run off... others call it cow piss.

I get the feeling that for most drivers, when they see an adult on a bicycle they think 'Bikie Twit" regardless of what jersey we may be wearing. Or if we're wearing a jersey at all.

Heh, like it. My evening rides frequently take me through section of Newton (MA) known as "The Lake". It's working class, and predominately Italian. It's an area with "a reputation" for not liking outsiders very much. That Jersey would be fine. Note: I've been riding through The Lake for many years. Problems encountered: zero. This, despite the number of large pickups and restored muscle cars. Mutual respect on the road seems to be the norm there. And remember, you don't travel to the lake. No, no. You "head down the lake". ;)

Can Anyone suggest a believable name for a bicycle "team" that has the initials F B T ?
