Foo - Proper attire for legal intern?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This summer it looks like I'll be interning at a fairly large company in Long Island that offers legal services. They specialized in bankruptcy and class action suites. Anyways, I'll be reporting to one of their higher ups probably being the office grunt. What sort of attire should I wear on a daily basis? I've never interned in any sort of law firm before, so pardon my ignorance.

Dress for the job that you want, not for the job you have.

You probably can't pull off an Ally McBeal skirt.

Definitely, do not pull off any skirts at the office! Doesn't matter if you are wearing it or someone else is.
Depends on your actual duties. Maybe coat and tie, maybe just slacks, white shirt and tie.
If you know anyone there, ask them.

1+. I was going to post that too. (I'm in the medical field, have the job I want and get to wear scrubs all day; perfect after-bike-commute attire). :D

At a minimum, dress slacks, dress shirt and tie. I would also wear a jacket/blazer/sport coat to and from the office, but would take it off during work.

Bullfighter's outfit complete with cape and stabby sabres. Job 1: Make an impression.
Starting from the top.
Three Amigos Sombrero
Elton John Glasses
Tuxedo T Shirt
Gold lame' thong
rainbow striped knee high socks, the kind with toes
See through platform shoes with gold fish in the heels.
If they have a company website with a question section, log on there and ask about attire, how to program your phone, frequent flier miles, car maintenance and dating tips as well.

Depends on the firm and its culture. Probably a jacket and tie job, but some firms require a proper suit - and others are Dockers and polo shirt places, believe it or not. Just ask - your supervisor will not think less of you for making sure that you're dress4ed appropriately. I will disagree with what some others here have said - in my experience, no one likes the new guy who overdresses.
More important than what you wear, however: particularly in a law firm, I would strongly urge you to remember the difference between a "suit" and a "suite."
Oh, and don't forget that the bibs go on the OUTSIDE of the t-shirt...

Sort of conflicting goals at this law firm.
Do not class action lawsuits bankrupt companies.
Forget this job, they all have their head up their ass with what their mission is.
Too bad, that plaid zoot suit Tom showed was really you.
