I got my 1st full week in riding my bike. 6 days actually, it rained & was blowing one day last week.

I'm down to 291.0# from 321.8# @ the 1st of the year. We took up XC skiing @ the beginning of February, then I got a FSMTB about 12 days ago.

I sure seem to be able to burn up the calories faster on the MTB than the XC skis.

I rode just a bit over 31 miles yesterday. A week ago, 10 miles was about all I could do. Now I can do that W/O a break, take a 15 minute break after 10-12 miles & pedal another 10-12 miles before I take another break.

Great Job Dan !!! Impressive results to say the least. Still liking that bike ? If I can't come up with the money to buy the "Bent" bike I want I may buy one like yours just to get the weight loss program going. Glad to hear things are working out for you. Keep it up !!!:thumb::thumb:

My wife & I are doing Weight Watchers. We started XC skiing for the additional weight loss/fitness. I got the MTB when the snow melted. Wifey has a gym @ the school where she teaches. She can go anytime but on the public nights when I can go it's packed.

I've been "pushing through the pain" on the bike. Pumping a little harder instead of shifting down on the hills, willing myself to go another mile to reach a goal before taking a break, etc. Taking Neproxin as prescribed by my MD every morning & night as well as 2 aspirin in the morning. The meds really help my 59 year old, out of shape body cope.

Every time I go out on the bilke, I can feel the improvement. After a short water break @ 5 miles, I pedaled pretty briskly for 6 miles non-stop on the slightly longer return loop. Much of it was uphill. I was still pushing very HARD in my top gear @ the end.

Good job my man! Proud to hear it. 59, I thought everyone here was younger than me. We are more alike than I realised. Keep up those miles. Double good job. Let's here it for the "seasoned crew!"

I heard that a lotta lard a$$ gets pedaled from the back of those caddies. Oh wait a minute, that's not what you meant! apologies!

Congrats, man! :thumb:

Don't focus too much on pushing through the pain. I prefer to look at from the other direction- sticking it out to the next enjoyable part. :)

My dad's just a tad younger than you and as had great luck on weight watchers. He's lost about 80 pounds or so and is now a life member. He did his first bike race ever this weekend and actually beat me!

OK, sure- he did the 23 mile race and I did the 35. But still, go dad!

Excellent Dan...just freakin RAWK!!

I lost 30# starting before Thanksgiving 2005 through Xmas. Toughest time of the year man...totally felt awesome though. I was 215 and dropped down to 185. Now I hover around 195-200.

More importantly now...I don't concentrate on the lap times and grinding out hills for "training" sake. I just have a dadgum good time!

Keep it up, Cadillac PIMP.

A lot of these roads I'm grinding it out on are county roads through state forest. I keep enviously looking @ the truck trails & snowmobile trail entrances as I go by. The snow is nearly gone & the ones that are thawed are drying out. I want to get as much weight off & gain as much motor in my legs/a$$/lungs as possible so I can really get it on when they are ready.

I can feel so much more power in my legs already. I'm really getting off on the increased strength & stamina. In a few weeks when the trails are rideable I want to hit them "balls out"!

I particularly want to give this one a try. (W/O the snow of coudse)
