I was looking on Bikely and found a really enticing ride down Longboat Key. I remember the area as being very nice, and with it's proximity to the beach I was going to check it out.
I was wondering if any of you locals might be available to hook up with me for a ride, or might could suggest something a bit better. I note there are several parks, golf courses, and a lake within easy riding distance to where I will be staying.
Post up if you are interested, or shoot me a PM, and lets ride!

I know this may be a little late but Longboat key is a nice ride. An uninterrupted sidewalk (extra wide) for about 9 miles. The parking is a little limited but there are some parking spots in the village (extreme north end) or park across Longboat Pass on Coquina Beach and ride across the bridge. One word of warning. . .bells are required on Longboat due to the walkers and joggers. Longboat cops love the residents and we would not want to startle the geezers walking Fluffy out on their morning dumps. If you stay off the sidewalk and ride the bike lane it is more in the sun. Sidewalk is half and half shady.
Ride across the bridge to Lido Key (St. Armands Circle) and play the tourist thing. More hot chicks that are LOADED ($$$) there than anywhere. I always make it a point to cruise around the traffic circle at least four to five times checking out the scenery.
