Road Cycling - So who bought a new bike this year?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I would consider that a yes. I have ordered mine and it comes in tomorrow.BooYah!
Reason for the question was the idea that bec/ of LA and the Tour that more and more people are cycling. Thus the supply and demand curve is changing although in a few years if LA doesn't ride again after next year there will be an large amount of good used bikes on the market.
I need to get out more.

I don't think Lance has that much impact on the market. Maybe a handful of people bought a bike. I never bought a basketball during Jordan's prime. I did buy a hockey mask, but that had less to do with Gretzky and more to do with Jason.
I bought 13 months ago... won't have money for another year or two for a new ride.

I bought my first road bike this year.
I think that LA helps some but really all the companies would rather see a ton of repeat business then a bunch of people just buying a bike cause it is cool and never riding it. I mean everyone with 2 or more bike is good for the bike business and will probably buy more when they have the money, however a fad just gives you profits once. Hence a lot of MTB in the world that sit in garages. Only good news never have to worry about that lifetime warranty if they never ride it.

got a new felt road bike, the F30 with a F1 Scandium frame, Mavic Ksyrium SSLs, Dura Ace Shifters, FSA, Ultegra brakes, comes in at around 16 lbs...a nice deal, too.
I've bought and built 2 used bikes this year and a 3rd frame that won't be finished until well into the new year. It's been a good year, knock on wood.

Yep, July, bought a Trek 5000
I have a custom Calfee Tetra Pro on order, but I probably won't see it until mid October or so -- right when it's getting consistently cold here in Massachusetts, and the number of possible riding days takes a big drop. I'll have to do some serious bundling up but I'll be riding somehow, someway to get miles on it before winter sets in.
There is no way a rider of my caliber deserves a frame like that, but I sure do want one. :D

i'll be honest
i dunno if it was because of LA, or because I actually had cable TV this year, but TdF period was when I really started wanting a road bike. I had been mtn biking for a number of years but road biking amongst such nice backdrops was just too enticing. And the no-tax TdF sale at the local trek store was pretty nice as well as tax was another $150 or so in addition to the price i was looking at. Wanted a 2100, but reached and got a 2200.
Luckily, I got out to yosemite a few weeks later and was able to ride in some very gorgeous areas which made it all worth it :)
so yes, LA and TdF and OLN influenced me, but unlike alot of ppl locally, i've ridden atleast 3-4 times a week if not more (except one week where i was swamped with work).

I said I got a new bike and I did, but it was a gift so I didn't buy it. Its a Colnago Chic with DA 10 speed. All I can say is that it corners on rails and its a dream.

Giant OCR1 two weeks ago and love it! Great bike store - Dragon Sports- Fort Walton Beach. FL
Bought a 2004 Bianchi Vigorelli in February. Put in a thousand miles so far.
damn.
those are some hot ***** bikes.
Surprized at all the Lemond's. Hardly ever see any where I ride...
I picked up a used Fondriest of Ebay after my new Fondriest was stolen
I don't see them (LeMonds) riding very often, but they're ALL OVER eBay, and the price is usually right. I picked up my Alpe d'Huez locally, but it was just toooo big. I normally ride a 56cm, and this was a 61cm -- I was a sucker for the price, and figured it might be fun to tool around on. A minor incident involving the top tube and clipless pedals that took a wee bit long to unhook from convinced me it was time to sell it off.

Great riding, good looking bike though. It's what's encouraged me to get into steel bikes again...

I have bought two new bikes within the last four months. I bought a brand new Cannondale full supsension Jekyl 800 mountain bike because I love to ride off road. However I ride most everyday and this cause me to do a lot of road riding which the mountan bike is to slow for me. I just recently bought a Cannondale R 2000 road bike to ride on the roads and so I can go faster. Now I have the best of both worlds. :D

'04 Bianchi Giro Celeste/Dark Blue :D
bought an 83 and 3/4ths Trek 770 frame. Soon to be off to
Vintage Cyle Studios ( www.vintagecyclestudios.com (http://www.vintagecyclestudios.com) ) for a repaint
and replace a few top tube cable brazeons.
Been gathering up the appropriate campy Super Record bits to
put it back into as new condition.
Sashae, don't see too many Katana's nowadays, 3Rensho is
a pretty hot frame. Nice.

Decided to get a road-style bike to help with relocation to a more hilly town that has less opportunity/need for off-roading while commuting and grocery-getting. We got 2 Fujis, an Absolute and a Finest-AL, to share time with our old Trek mountain bikes (=pothole pounders). Those hills don't seem quite so steep now... :P Bike shopping is fun. :) Busy putting on new bells, whistles, lights, tires, etc, etc, etc...the accessory total so far is at least half the price of the bikes.
that single speed Co Motion looks nice.
Do they have a website?
Bought my 2004 Trek 2100 three weeks ago. It's great!

It has been three years since I bought a new bike...I think of new bikes the way many dream of new cars. Guess, since I am most seriously into touring, that will someday soon be my priority.
Considering the serious touring I hope to accomplish someday, I deserve a higher end touring bike..One I can trust to take one about the whole world, if so inclined..My goal is just a continent.
Maybe next year..But which touring bike is the one..A great one, but no need for overkill....My present touring bike is a Fuji Tourer, which I am happy with and think can fully trust for crossing just a state, or maybe a continent.
