Is this a legit place to park? Saw it on Google Maps. Usually I park at the bottom of GMR, but gotta mix is up.

By what I saw in street view, I would say yes. It is not marked by signs stating no parking, nor is it gated. It also has other cars parked there, with no visual connection between them (like all FS or similar). It most likely requires an Adventure Pass.

Encanto Park is just down the way from there and a very popular start point ofr several cyclists. It's about 1 or 2 miles down the SGRT.

West side of river, crossing the big concrete bridge.

Irwindale BLVD, west 1/4 on Foothill/Huntington, right on Encanto Pwk 1/4 to Encanto Park.

Southwest of your marker.

Thanks for the tips. MrBeanz-I'll see if my buddy wants to park there.

We did some forum rides form Encantotno up GMR. Once on the trail, about a mile up there is a small turnout near a mining/conveyor structure. It leads to an alley/trail that dumps out onto Sierra Madre just west of the golfcourse. We'd take that to GMR. Makes for a nice 10 mile warmup.

I've parked there before. It's a parking lot for the bike path, so it's definitely "legit." I prefer to park at Encanto Park a little further down SGRT, myself.

Encanto has bathrooms. The Wheelmen sometimes start at Pioneer Park in Azusa on Sierra Madre just east of San Gabriel Cyn. Also has bathrooms.

Bathrooms are always good. Emply bladder before a hard ride!
