What is it with cats? We've had one for a long time. Louie can't abide me, but he's glomed onto my wife. Going so far as to sleeping under her blanket with her.

We just rescued one from a friend who couldn't take it to his new home. This one has glomed onto me. Shadow won't leave me alone. Every time I sit down, she's in my lap. She tolerates my wife.

Cats are weird.

Some cats are one-person cats. Others are not. My late cat, Lorenzo, was a one-person cat. I was that person. He barely tolerated my wife. He'd join me in bed and let me cuddle & pet him up until my wife entered the room, at which point he'd leave.

Lance, on the other hand, loves every person he's ever met.

One of our cats won't let us touch her. She's 5 years old, shows up for breakfast and dinner and sleeps in a chair on the porch. As far as I know, aside from when we trapped her for spaying, she's never been touched by a human.

To be fair, "Weird arse cats" is mostly a flowery way of saying the exact same thing.

Genki was the same way. 20 years of free cat lovin' all to myself. I miss him. Now I have the devil cat.

We've been lucky that our remaining two cats, Lance & Arianna, are both very affectionate towards us. The only drawback is that Lance is 19, and has difficulty getting around, so he tends to stay on the couch.

We're hoping when they both go, and we get new cats, that the new ones are also affectionate, and not devil cats.

I've been lucky. Of the first two I had one was friendly to anyone the other was friendly to me and the ex (shy with everyone else). Currently #3 is very social - a bit of a ham really.

Teh kitteh doesn't like strangers and he yells loudly at them to go away...except if they are very tall. He seems to like tall people, which is weird since teh bf and I are short.

Cats are like people, they each have their own personality. One of mine wont let my girlfriend sleep on my bed because they both want to sleep in the same spot, so now I don't have to worry about cleaning up for the girlfriend since she wont come over.

so the cat gave you an ultimatum and you picked the cat? you're doing it wrong!

I like dogs. Cats I tolerate. That's what's making this worse. I could do without the cat on my lap.

The two of them worked it out while I was asleep. I picked the cats when I got divorced and I know I made the right choice there.

I was never a "Cat Person" until I got Annie. She's a mischievous little beastie, and is definitely a one person cat, and I'm her person. Right now, she's sitting on my feet.

We live in a cat alley, and each one of them is a little weirdo.

This morning, when evil Otis (the fattest black cat who ever lived) tripped me as I was walking to his food bowl with his breakfast, it occurred to me that he and I are engaged in a death match. One of us will inevitably kill the other.

My little buddy, Milo, has been with me for 15 years, but sadly, now has inoperable lymphoma. He's very clingy--always likes to be where I am. In fact, when my wife and I were first getting back together, he used to try to keep her out of the bed, but now he follows her around too. The house is going to seem really empty without him.

Not fair really, he only has to kill you once.

Cats are a waste of oxygen, but worth owning for the pure entertainment value. And they'll be an excellent Emergency Food Supply come the End of Days.

That's true, but on the other hand, even as fat as he is I still have a couple hundred pounds on him - so it probably balances out.

The real unfairness is that Otis is probably smarter than I am, he's certainly more cunning, and I think most of the family is on his side. I do, however, count the dog as an ally.

Do not forget to add to the list of pluses that he also has oral access to his own genetalia and anus. I mention this because when my wife had cats, that seemed to be their main preoccupation.

when my neighbor comes home from work he can tell if I'm at the corner bar because my cat is sitting by the bar entrance waiting for me.
