When do the Onion Valley climbs become rideable? Are they rideable yet? I'm talking Onion Valley Road, Whitney Portal, Horseshoe Meadows.

Thx.

Whitney Portal Road closed around the 6600 foot level. Avalanche over road makes opening date questionable for a while. Snow due for the next 3 to 4 days at least. Not huge amounts, but snow. Have not heard reports on O. V. or H. M. Am going up on the 8th to climb Whitney and will report road conditions when I get back. One thing to remember, it's only the beginning of April. It's still WINTER up there. :50:

As of Monday this week, Whitney Portal Road is rideable. Snow plowed to about 200 feet of the store. Not sure about Onion Valley or Horseshoe (Cottonwood) Meadows roads, but I would guess they are passable up to around 8500 feet or so.
