Foo - I don't think Spring Break in the US ever got quite this out of control...

If this happened now, they'd be in there with riot gear and tear gas. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1262543/Five-thousand-British-students-spark-outrage-drunken-spring-break-Spanish-seaside-resort.html)
Sounds much like "las justas".

I was fortunate enough to participate in a semester abroad program with a university in England. The partying during my three months over there was more fun than the rest of the time I spent at Penn State (and yes, I did graduate).
The fact that there was a pub on campus, directly across from the dorms, with discounted beer and organized parties every night during orientation week was foreshadowing of good times. It was all in good fun though, and to the best of my knowledge no property was damaged, and no one got hurt. Maybe severely hung over on occasion, but not hurt.
Evidently I didn't cause too much strife either, as I was one of the first two students from Penn State to go over to this school, and the program continued after we left. Actually, now that I think about it, they did threaten to throw me out of the dorms because I kept my bike inside. However, the program administrator felt that the supervisor in question was over-reacting, and they were really embarrassed and apologetic.

ummm...I don't know, I have had the fortune of living in a destination for some of american's spring break. I have easily seen it get that out of control. Young people, booze (amongst other things), bar crawl and a party scene = ... THAT.

US spring break does get worse than that. Brits know how to party. The Spaniards didn't seem to mind too too much, some good $$$$ made.
