This is McDonald Falls, in Glacier National Park. It's about as rural as you can get.

Rural is my "back yard". This is the area where I kayak. Ocean temps are still a bit cool, but, should warm up next few weeks.

What are the rules about photoshop? I have a picture I would like to use, but it does have some editing done to it.

AllenG
04-07-10, 12:41 AM
Photoshop is fine.
Two rules in this contest: 1. you must be the photographer, 2. one entry per month (but you can change it, whatever is standing at the end is what will be in the vote thread).
One guideline: try to make the image a recent one--not set in stone, if you want to post an image from twenty years ago it's up to you.

My 12yr old son with type 1 diabetes joined me in climbing Mt Nebo (http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ar/russellville/629858600) to get this picture. We stopped a few times but didn't rest over a min at each stop. The last half mile is 18% grade. This was his first ride outside of the neighborhood. He complained a lot until we stopped at a lookout and someone else pulled in and told us we were nuts for riding up there. Then his attitude went to "That wasn't so bad." I am very proud of him.
Thats work in the background.

What are you doing for the B&W conversion?

Good choice.

What are you doing for the B&W conversion?

I usually shoot in color, pull it into Photoshop and throw a quick preset on it - adjust the curves a little and out pops a B&W image. A fun little plugin to play with is Topaz...

Some of my work for a local church:
http://www.mypublisher.com/?e=OHm3Q8zJl3TEAU9fq0tczckOwmw_PqKf&showForm=true

Edit:

I really love working in black and white because there are no colors to distract the viewer - it's all about the subject and how the photographer exposes the subject. In some images, the subject is blatantly obvious, in others you have to work to understand it. That's the real beauty of photography. :)
