Bicycle Mechanics - Overhauling Shimano 3 speed coaster hub

Looking for schematics, exploded view, or any infomation on disassembling and reassembling a Shimano 3CC three-speed coaster hub.

It wasn't shifting at all when I brought it home. I pulled it apart and found it pretty gummed up. After degreasing, repacking the bearings, lubricating the epicyclic components with SAE 30 and reassembling, it shifts -- occasionally, and in a manner of speaking -- very notchy.

Is it worth any further aggravation?

Just so happens that I did the same thing with a 1960's schwinn.

Older Shimano 3 speed disassembly/reassembly instructions are available in "Glenn's New Complete Bicycle Manual". Normally available from used book dealers who list on Amazon as well as other used book internet sources.

Your description is too poor to answer w/o more information including hub model and a clearer description.

It's my old Shimano 3 speed F-Type, and shift dosn't work because fell out the 2 sliding key from the gap of axis.
The problem, that I can't assamle.
I think, first I must disassamble (remove) the complete rachet, to put back the 2 sliding key.
My is F-Type 3 speeds HUB, US Pat: 3021726.

ive rebuilt over 8 sturmy archer aw 3speed hubs with no diagrams and 100% effectivness and they work great. ive tried to rebuild two shimano 333 3speed hubs (similar to the 3sc) and neither one ever seen the dropouts of a bike again. the shimano hubs are alot trickier to work on and alot less reliable than the s.a hubs. i won't even touch them and if the hub is worth it, have a shop look at it.

Finally, with small hammer knocks to the innen bigger ring opened the locking and after greasing I assembled and works well, the reason unknown what was the problem.

Shimano 333 hubs seem to have a well deserved bad reputation. I do come across them once in a while. Rather than preventative maintenance/overhaul, if they are otherwise working, I tend to simply add a couple drops of a solvent/oil such as Marvel Mystery Oil down the hollow axle to keep the innards lubed. Don't waste effort taking them apart. If they aren't functioning well to begin with, just throw them away to keep them out of further circulation.
