Hi all. I am new to the boards and have immensely enjoyed reading all of the commuter bike recommendations. I saw and infomercial (I know I know) on a bike called Land Rider. It has an automatic shifter on it. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. Is it a piece of junk or does it work as well as the ads say? Thanks so much for your time.

Sincerely,
Christysmom97

christysmom97: Do a search on for Landrider. You will find that not too many people here are "big fans" of the autoshifting pile of &^%* that they really are.

Thanks for the opinions. I think I'll stick to a Breezer :)

I wouldn't drive a car or truck with an auto transmission why would you want one on a bike?

Auto transmissions suck up ~10% of the avaliable energy, require more frequent and more expensive maintenance tha manual and a clutch and are not near as much fun. And can be much more dangerious on hills.
