General Cycling Discussion - Payment Options for Membership Sign-up

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've wanted to become a paid member for longer than I can remember, but my ingrained hatred for PayPal has always discouraged me. Well, a few days ago, I decided to bite-the-bullet and use PP's 'optional' CC method - wrong! After punching all the right keys and expecting a receipt, PP intervenes and detours me to yet another page and requested additional information which essentially FORCES me to sign-up for a PP account. This infuriated me even more. So the poll asks...
Would you be more inclined to become a BF member IF more payment options were available? And if so, what payment method(s) would you prefer?
Edit: Twice failed to invoke a poll... sorry.

I feel the same way. I wanted to join long before I did but hate the hassle of sing for this , sign for that!
Same with bikejournal, atleast they have the "jsut send a firggin' check option":D...I payed for that membership about 4 years ago. This one took somme time because of the "not wanting to deal with the hassle" issue.
We share feelings about Paypal. Fortunately, Joe Gardner was the guy when I felt motivated, and agreed to a paper check. Got everything I need from him by PM.
Ok... I get the picture. 'No PayPal... No membership'. But thanks anyway for trying Tom.

I have bought stuff on other sites that had a Paypal CC pay, that didn't require signing up for anything. Just enter your CC info and that's all. I would suspect there's a deal afoot there. To this day I've never signed up for anything with Paypal.
Alternately, it could be that I never got the runaround because I only use virtual/throwaway credit-card numbers online anyway. Did you try this? My online credit-card numbers are never valid for more than the next month, so maybe they don't bother trying to save that info......
{-IMO if you're buying anything online and not using throwaway CC numbers, you're doing it wrong-**

Paypal isn't the reason I haven't joined however.
If they offered an extra-low bandwidth (cell phone) version of the website for members only, I'd join for that. The old forum was very slow on my cellphone; the new one is essentially un-viewable (pages take ~5 minutes to load!)
