60cm seems way too large. I'm 5'9" as well and found the 56cm fit the best. It was a toss up between the 56cm and 58cm so I just went with the 56cm

60 is too big for 5'9". 6'1" 195 here and ride a 58 05' Trek.

You guys rock!
But Frylock won't let me use his cloner to make brownie monsters so I want him to ride a bike that's way to big and suffer the consequences at a stoplight. Cuz, ya know, I'm evil like that.

I'm 5'8" and ride a 50cm. It depends on the length of your legs doesn't it?
I'm 5'11" and I'm riding on a 56cm frame. Its ok, but when I buy a new bike this winter, I'm gonna test ride a 58cm. I have short legs and a long torsoe.

I would request a copy but I really want to see the spec sheet first.

I'm just glad to hear that I'm more of an average height than I thought!
I'm 5'9" too and I ride a 54 (30" inseam)
I would disagree, and say that fit is more about top tube length than inseam. Easy to adjust seat height, but more difficult to play with stem length.

Agreed. Especially with compact geometry that many of today's bikes have. However, the Trek 1000 is traditional geometry. (well at least the 04 was) So both need to be addressed. Reach vs. stand over height.

Frylock doesn't want a Trek 1000, FYI... so you're falling on deaf ears.
