I know it is possible to use spacers to run a shimano cassette that will work with campy derailleurs, but is the opposite possible? i mean, can i use a campy rear hub and cassette body for a bike with otherwise all shimano 9 speed drivetrain? thanks for your help.

Campy cassettes, unlike some Shimano, are loose cogs (I don't know about 10s, but 8s and 9s are).

Some are, some aren't.
