I just got into road cycling and purchased a Trek 1500 (2004) model. I'm not satisfied with the stock saddle, however I am also ridding without proper cycling shorts. What recommendations would you guys have and can it be uncomfortable due to the height of the seat even after proper fitting? Thanks a lot
What brands should I take a look at?

if you haven't ridden before it probably won't matter what saddle you have, your ass is gonna hurt. it'll take some time to get used to. stay away from too much padding and look for a leaner race design with an anatomical split/hole design, in the long run it'll be more comfortable(i.e. when you're body/keister adapts a bit to th stress of riding)

get some proper shorts as well. they will be cheaper than a new saddle and it could be all you need.
