Southern California - Ok, so who did and who didn't feel it?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Major quake just over the Mexico border,(just upgraded to 7.2) at 3:40 pm. If you weren't out on the bike, did you feel it?
On was on my MTB heading to S'bucks and didn't feel it. Folks there said it rolled for about 40 seconds - a block from where I as. Weird.

Felt it good here in Fountain Valley. Started off light and grew to a nice roll, a good 30-40 seconds of action. My relatives in San Diego said it rolled good and knock some stuff down but no Major damage. Hope all is well with everyone close to the border.

Sitting on an overpass near Brea on the 57 fwy, stopped for a minute while FD worked on a car fire. Other traffic rolled by so I thought we were on a structure built on rollers (whatever) as the road seemed to roll and bounce.
Yeah, we felt it!:D

Definitely felt it in Palm Springs. It kept shaking after I expected it to stop, and kept getting stronger. I had to decide whether or not I was going to pause my DVR'd Tour of Flanders.

I dud not feel a thing as I was at the local rescue mission serving meals. Some of the other volunteers made mention of it but no one seemed to care. They were too busy working.

Hmm, wonder if we crossed paths. Were you wearing a lite blue jacket and ridng with a dude in bright green jacket or vest on a hybrid?
I was in a car many hundred miles north. Had no idea until I started seeing facebook updates about it.

felt nothing at work in mission valley area of san diego. was sitting in a cushy office chair at the time and nothing was shaking/rattling.
came out of the office and several people were freaked out. had to send someone home who looked 3 shades of green and said she
was feeling ill. some people really get affected by these things. personally, i'll take an earthquake any day over a hurrricane or tornado.

I was at Sea World at the dolphin pond with my wife and toddler. Had the kid on my shoulders when the shaking started. It was crazy seeing the water splosh around wildly, palm trees, and lightpoles swaying. First jolt was very noticeable and it rolled for quite a while. It was fun to watch all the tourists' reactions. My wife didn't feel it.

I did a Google Earth distance line and it was 163 from Mexicali to Huntington Beach.
I was watching the Tour of Flanders, noticed the first slow roll, THEN it started to really rock n roll. My bike in the patio on a hook was swaying and chandelier was swinging. Of course I kept watching.

I was on my blue Scattante in a short sleeve white/blue jersey and white/blue helmet. If you guys were all in jackets and long pants, and there were three of you, then I remember passing you, just dont recall where. I normally ride out of HB.

So who won Flanders?
Didn't exactly feel it in Carlsbad, but watched about 10 gallons slosh out of the pool and heard the patio cover creaking behind us while we were lawn-bowling and sipping late harvest zin. Also saw the chandeliers and pots&pans swaying in the kitchen during what must have been an aftershock. My niece yelled "EARTHQUAKE!" and we all started chattering nervously, which set the dogs off, so they started barking and going crazy in the yard.
Then of course everyone blathered on about how the dogs sensed it beforehand.
Then the FFA (Future Fratboys of America (recently licensed teens in the neighborhood)) started driving around in their stupid SUVs honking their horns and heralding the earthquake several minutes after it'd stopped. (Sorry guys, no riot or suburban looting today. Go back to huffing paint fumes in your garage.)

I thought this gal might have been you, she rode by while I was recording and ended up in my video!:D
I can't make out the bike but she's wearing long sleeves and you said short sleeves.
About 30 minutes before the quake.

I was in Huntington Beach on Main St. Met a buddy for beer & sympathy. We were riding slowly when it hit. Thought I'd overdone the Newcastle until I saw the powerlines swaying. Left me dizzy for a few.

Was driving to get something to eat.....
Car felt like it was vibrating itself to peices, and was really puzzeled by the fact that everything was fine according to gauges. So I started thinking worse case (bad hub, transmission going, loose wheels....) then it stopped. I was then swerving down alton at 50 to see if something was wrong....then 10 minutes later found out it was an earthquake and felt stupid for not thinking of that.
It was windy, so trees moving didn't seem out of place and I don't pay attention to birds as they are mostly crows....
Standing on my friend's concrete patio in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego, drinking a beer. Felt an odd undulation under my feet. My friend said "Earthquake. These are only the P waves." Then the S waves hit. Shook for almost a minute. Water sloshed out of his rain barrel. Best one I've felt since the 7.1 October 1999 Hector Mine quake.
A couple new cracks in the ceiling of my hallway, and when I opened a kitchen cabinet to get out a water bottle for this morning's commute, the bottles all fell out onto the floor. My house was damaged more by the small temblors centered out by the Coronado Islands a couple of years ago.
