Anyone going? I'm off the back since December due to major spine/disc injury but I have a friend who is thinking about doing this May 8th. He's pretty strong but not all that into getting up in the a.m.

Any ride success tips would be welcome.

It's a geat ride for a wonderful cause. I've done it the past several years. It's the hardest ride I do each year. 12kft. in 87 miles. The real challenge is finding transportation to the start and to be picked up 87 miles away in Mt. Pinos. I sure hope there is no wind this year. When there is it's hell.

Well, if my friend does this I'm going to be doing support for him and providing the return ride. The biggest challenge is going to be getting him to GET UP that morning before the crack of noon.

So, motivational & inspirational ideas would be appreciated.

Well once again I'm gonna do this ride. It's this Saturday the 8th. At least it's for a great cause but man is it hard. Hope the wind ain't blowin.

I wanted to train for this ride this year. But the logistics is what made me pass. I would be hard pressed to find someone to pick me up at Mt. Pinos.

Have a good time Bob. I know you'll be successful.

Can you still register for this ride? Where is the registration page or official ride page?

Can you still register for this ride? Where is the registration page or official ride page? Registration if over but I'm sure they will let you in, they have in the past, but you must call 805-648-3295. There is no web site that I am aware of.

Thanks. I didn't notice it was this weekend though - probably won't happen since it is Mother's Day weekend :(

Great day for an epic ride. There was even a tailwind in Lockwood Valley. Now when was the last time that happened? I can't remember. 70 people were registered and most did the entire 12,000ft. I did 10,000:o

I rode this year for the 2nd time. The first time was 20+ years ago (ah youth!)

The conditions couldn't have been better this year. There were headwinds full-in-the-face about the last five miles into Frazier Park and then (don't ask me how) after turning the corner up Cuddy Valley the headwinds were still full-in-the-face (sheesh.)

The weather was well nigh perfect. It never got hotter than 92" (by my computer) in the Lockwood Valley and then your out and shredding the road descending away from the mid-course hills into cooler temperatures.

My sister and I rode together and there was a lot of gunfire as we rode through the hills beyond Heartbreak. Every time shots sounded we kidded each other that they were killing the slower riders and that we'd better speed up. It didn't work so well for inspiration because we thought we WERE the last riders.

The Sea To Summit is a toughy, but it has an epic feel to it and the course covers a lot of gorgeous territory.

By the way, if anyone found a single-use Kodak camera on the descent from Pine Mtn. it's mine. Give me a holler and I send a box to mail it in.
