Just did a ride over to the Plumb Beach section of the Belt Parkway Bike Path to see the conditions.
In 2 words - No Change.
As in, all that was done over the winter was to place sandbag reinforcement to the beach to slow down the continued erosion of the path and adjacent grass area next to the parkway. The fencing remains and blocks access to the path from the Knapp St side. The blocking fence on the east side has fallen down and it's actually possible to ride part of the crumbled path, up to the sandbagged area, but there's no exit if you do.
The ride around for folks coming from the east, is to go to the NW corner of the parking lot, around the chainlink fence and to ride the well-worn path in the grass, thru sandtraps, between the guardrail of the Belt Parkway and the blocking fence.
From the Knapp St side it's obvious.
Care must be taken riding the detour as there's some sections of deep'ish sand to navigate thru - skinny road tires will have the most difficulty and the more riders coming thru here this spring, the worse the conditions will get.
No notices were posted about WHEN they are doing a permanent fix.
