Tandem Cycling - Cassette Wear Data Point

First few rides of the year down, first ride was awful because turned out our cassette was worn out. With a new chain skipping was terrible in the largest four (ti) cogs of a Record cassette with about 1800 miles on it. I think I probably did one interim chain change too.

Chorus for us from now on. The ti cogs on the Record didn't last long!

Which cogs were worn? On my half-bike, I have a compact crank, and so I'm usually in the small cogs on the Record cassette. These are steel, but still wear out too fast. I've replaced these several times, while my larger Ti cogs are still fine.

I used this cog switching as an opportunity to go from 13-29 to 12-29, by skipping the 16t.

Are these 11sp or 10sp? It's becoming extremely difficult to find 10sp Chorus cassettes. The ones I do find are very expensive. I had to switch to Centaur. They are single steel cogs so are a bit heavier.

I see what you mean about 10sp Chorus Cassettes, most shops don't carry them any longer. Niagara Cycles Works is where I usually get stuff domestically and they also don't carry them. Try Chain Reaction Cycles. They ship free from the UK if you order over $230 worth of items.

10 speed. Local shop actually had a Chorus 10 sp 12-25 in stock!
