Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - A brakeless disaster waiting to happen

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

you should TOTALLY buy that Soma ride, Bikkhu ;)
Oh, and that black bianchi and yellow chebici are my bikes.. Great. :D
And you only spent 300us on them right? I think the front tire alone on the one with the yellow bullhorns would probably be at least that...

i should sell him my nishiki beater for $300, make a 300% profit on it, and put that toward something much nicer...

Weird - I'd swear that was a freewheel on the rear. A rusty one at that.
What is the best route to hell BTW?

that guy is located in my neighborhood. this is a perfect example of the types of people that have been moving in the past year.
Surly makes a bike that makes "people think messenger".
Will girls like me more if I look like a messenger? Is my package big enough?
hm..a track bike is not a mess. bike per se..a track bike is what you graduate to when you start to be an old fart..some old farts are messengers..

Nope can't say that I'd ride it.
There is one guy here that I've seen on a C'dale track (silver or gray /dark red colors). But I think he also races track, so it could be his race bike and felt like taking it out one day.

Look at the picture of the Cannondale when its show from the right side in the stand. Does the top tube look like it have been bent into a small downward arc?

That would be the weight of the  BRAKES  causing the aluminum frame to sag! :p
those poor cannondale people. they try so hard but somehow those bikes
still look boring.

I don't care how they look - I just would never ride them after a mechanic friend of mine tried to repaint one of their frames (yeah I have mentioned this before). He sanded it down and found out that there was a hole in one of the tubes, and they had just filled it with putty then painted the frame. He scrapped the frame.
Can you imagine shipping a frame with holes in it? And covering it up?
No cannondale for me. Ever.

Wow. I've never been called 'you people' before... What people are we?
Wait, I thought there was only one of me! Where are the others, and why don't they show up to work when I do? I could use about 2 more of me there, so there could be one of me on every shift making sure they stay in line...
My bike's probably only about 10 years old. Maybe a little older, but I don't know the year...
there is "he who makes sense" and then there is the drunk guy. :)

of course, the wise man recognizes what is good enough...

Don't the liquor stores open at 10?
Actually, some open at 8. I'm good for the day though, and trying to cut back.
Been sitting outside of Franklin Nicolette Liquours at 8am with some interesting people on several occasions...
But it has been an hour and 13 min... and the PBR aint doing it... Think I'm off on a ride...
See ya all.

An older guy i work with lumped me in with "those people" the other day, when he said "If you haven't rebelled by the time you're twenty, you've got no heart. If you haven't sold out by the time you're thirty, you've got no brains." I summarily issued him a punch in the face. Or i wish i did.
I'm still confused after that, s2sxiii. You mention who 'those people' are nowhere in your reply. As far as I know, I am like no other person I have ever met, so I don't know who I could be lumped in with in... Except for other drunks, I suppose, but even then, I tend to use alchohol as a denominator so I can get down to discourse with normal humans...
Am I normal for riding a brakeless track bike? Or for being as drunken as I am?
Someone please explain, because none of these seems plausible.
I did rebel by the time I was 20, but as far as I know I haven't sold out.... I've just been worn out.
Please help me, I'm so confused... I still don't know what Sohi meant.
HereNT, I lump you in with 'those people' who dont know where they're lumped in. if that helps.
I lump myself in with those who know what sohi meant. or at least those who think they know what sohi meant.
Or maybe I'm just confused. That would lump me in with you. Perhaps "we're" 'those people'.

he was lumping me in with all "those people" who are in their mid-twenties and still rebelling. I kinda assumed that's who sohi was lumping you with. Much like you, i've been drinking this morning as well. I rarely make sense anyway.
