Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

BF seems to take too long to load. This has just happened and is not my computer. Just with BF. Anyone else notice this?

Yes. When you hit the BF top page it hangs for a long time...seems to be loading up the ads, but not always. In fact it seems to hang up my whole browser while it loads. IE8.

Yep, same here - too bad they "fixed" a good thing...... sometimes, it actually locks up my computer.

We're currently experiencing systemwide network issues. It's not just BF.

It seems even worse today. And BF is the only site that I visit that is having these issues. It's very painful.

Still happening. BTW, it's only the top-level BF page that has this issue. If I click the "forum" link at the top of the page (next to the little house), my entire browser (not just the BF tab, all tabs) will just freeze for about 30-40 seconds, and then come back. The sub-forum pages are not exhibiting this behaviour.

This site has always been slower than others in my experience (I've been coming here for about 3 years), but even with dial-up I was always able to use the site (though sometime it would take 10-20 seconds for a page to load up with dial-up). I've had a cable connection for about a year now and up until a month or so ago enjoyed fairly easy use of this site (I have XP and, I believe, the latest Internet Explorer). I have a buggy computer, sometime IE won't load up on the first try (a blank window will open up but then nothing else will happen, and when I try to close the blank IE window I get the prompt asking if I want to "END PROGRAM", which I choose to do, the window closes after about 5-10 seconds and then I start over). If IE refuses to load for me on the first try, it will usually load on the second.
BF has been behaving the same (except it refuses to load even after several attempts), a window opens but with mostly blank space and then nothing happens for a very long time (long enough for me to conclude that nothing at all is going to happen). The last couple of evenings especially (U.S.A. Atlantic Time) I haven't been able to access the site (I can get to other sites like ebay, TVguide, hotmail with few problems). I have been able to use BF when I try to access it in the mornings (it's morning as I write this). I assume the problem is some combination of my outdated computer/software, the greater amount of internet traffic in the evenings, and something going on at BF that makes it a bit finicky.
We're currently experiencing systemwide network issues. It's not just BF.
The problem is ongoing and appears to be centered on rendering issues on the main page in IE. There are occasions during load where IE will actually stall/freeze/lockup, where Firefox and Safari are unaffected.
