Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

ok. so i called a guy up about a 80s vitus bike. he said all campy record so i went to look. sure enough, nice cobalto brakes, everything record except-i believe the hubs. these hubs just had the shield logo on them. no oil hole strap of any kind. i pointed this out to the guy but he insisted they were campy record. i always thought that vintage campy record hubs(nuovo all the way to c on past to post c record) had a band around the middle either black or chrome metal. i told the guy if he was right i would apologise and i told him that if hes wrong he would apologise but he Insisted he was not wrong. those hubs sure looked like victory to me!!!!!

How old were the hubs? If they are just a straight-up cylinder, then they're old Records and don't have an oil hole. If they're pinched in the middle and flared at the sides like a bowtie, then they're newer and not Record (AFAIK).
