They really need to test drivers who are 65 and older each and every year to make sure they're still fit to drive. Although in this case, it wouldn't matter if that person drove with a suspended license...
You say that until you're 65 and forced to go to the DMV every 12 months. I went 2x in the past 5 years and it terrible each time. Now imagine it with millions more appointments for seniors.
Maybe if we had better/real public trans options the elderly might choose to drive less, but who knows.

I've got 18 years before I have to worry about that ... if I survive that long.
