so i recently acquired a 2006 felt f1x cyclocross frame from a used bike shop. my intentions were to convert it to a single speed. upon later research i found that the fork on the 07/08 model of the f1x had been recalled, so i've had a tough time finding a fork. i'm new to building my own bike and i've had a hard time finding a fork for the f-series felt bikes for a reasonable price. i looked on ebay and the only felt forks were not threaded where as the for for the f-series according to felt typically are. does any one have any suggestions on where to get reasonably priced felt forks or have any suggestions as to what would be comparable that i can use as a substitution? my other question is, does any one have a suggestion for a cassette hub to use for a conversion or one that is "ready made (with spacers)" for road/cyclocross to single speed conversions? again, i'm very new to this, so spare me an ass reaming, i know i probably sound like an idiot. thanks every one!

Is this your frame? If so:

1) That's a 1 1/8" threadless steerer on it, stock. Just about any road or CX fork should work with it. Is there a headset in it right now?

2) It has vertical dropouts, so a typical ss/fg setup likely won't work. On the bright side, most, if not all, singlespeed tensioner kits (such as the Surly Singleator) come with cogs, spacers, and lockrings that slide over typical shimano freehubs- so get yourself a road wheelset, a tensioner kit, and any carbon fork.

i dont have a headset yet, should i know anything specific to keep in mind when i look for one?. i'll definitely look into the surly singleator.

There are SS cyclocross bikes - like the Bianchi San Jose. You can ride FG, too if you want.

how much would you buy the frame for?
