Hi! I'm brand new in cycling world and it's sort of easy to get lost in it. I bought a Spec Tricross Sport last year and it came with Alex ACE-19 rims and 700 X 32 tires. I ride my bike mostly on the road and I'm willing to improve performance by changing couple of parts on it. The first thing I want to change is tires. Which tires would fit on this type of rims? I found a good deal on a pair of Vittoria Diamante Pro, which are 700 X 23, 220 TPI. I know these are good tires but will they fit on my rims?
Thanks for your help!
P.S. I ain't got no money to upgrade the rims for now so please, don't suggest me to change them :)

They should fit ok.
700 X 25's might be better for you.

The size of the tire is determined by the interior width of the rim. Somewhere on the label, it will say something like 622-18. the 18 would be the interior width. A starting rule of thumb is 1.5 times the 18 would be the minimum width of the allowable tire, or 2 times the 18 would be the maximum. Other tire manufacturers will suggest differently, so check their websites.
According to the Alex website, the interior width on that rim is 17mm. That puts the "recommended" minimum tire width at 25, but I'd bet that 23 would also work. Apparently it's more at risk for pinch flats, but proper inflation usually avoids that problem.

And why would the 700 X 25 be better for me than the 23? What's the difference between both: Comfort on road... speed?

If 25c is just as quick as 23c, but more comfortable, why would anyone choose 23c?

Because pinch flats are an excuse to take a brake.
